Colby West

Colby joined the MSP team late this season for some shoots as both an athlete and a cinematographer. Everyone is stoked to have him on board and look forward to the seasons to come...We caught up with Colby recently to talk a little about his season, heres what he had to say....

What was your favorite day of skiing this last season?

I think my favorite day was the night of the heli shoot in Whistler when everyone was there; TJ, Jon, Sammy, Simon, Hoji, Sarah, CR, Mike Douglas, and Abma. It was an amazing sunset and everyone was just having a good time. The jump was a little intimidating, but that's part of the job, I guess. The feeling of accomplishment as we skied down Blackcomb in the dark was probably what did it for me. When you're so tired and fatigued that you can barely stand, but you can still smile because you were successful with what you were trying to do.

What was the coolest place you were able to ski this last season? trip highlights?

I think the coolest place I was able to ski this season was Are, Sweden. I was there for the Jon Olsson Invitational. It was the most fun I have had at a competition. The crew that was competing there was so awesome. It's impossible not to have a good time with those guys, especially TJ, who was my roomate.

Some of the highlights would probably have to be pulling up to the clubs in 2007 BMW SUVs every night, the eighties party, Jon's perfect jump, bowling, and the cleanliness of our condo when we left. One word to descibe the whole week... unreal.

What was the most substantial thing you learned last season?

I learned that it's not getting there, it's the experiences along the way.

What goals did you achieve last season and what are you hoping to achieve in the future?

I wanted to do well in some competitions and travel to as many places that I could possibly get to.

I got third in the X-Games, third in the US Open, third in the Ski Tour, and went to Japan and Sweden so I think, for the most part, I reached my goals.

Next season I want to give heli skiing a try. I hear it's scary and fun. Sounds like my kind of thing.
