Murray was born and raised in Seattle Washington, where he developed a love of skiing. After high school, he attended a year of college at Wenatchee Valley College graduating from the ski program. Murray then went on to graduate from the University of Oregon with a degree in Journalism. After college he interned at Powder magazine. With a deep desire to live in the mountains he was offered a job, and a chance by Steve Winter to start working on ski movies in Crested Butte Colorado. Thirteen years later, Mr. Wais, has produced with MSP over 25 action sport films, commercials and television shows. He was also a founding editor of the now defunct FREEZE magazine. Managing corporate strategy on the global level, selling sponsorships, working as a cinematographer, and trying to figure out how to afford a hair transplant, Mr. Wais has his hands full at Matchstick Productions.
