Mike Hans is an old east coast kid from Portland, Maine. His younger years were spent moving around a lot. After calling Mt. Hood home for 2 years, he left for a year of college in New York and was quickly reminded that the West is where it’s at.
That decision led Hansee to Gunnison, Colorado in 1998 to attend Western State College, where he began working with Mountain Sports International as an intern and later as an operations manager and competition director for the Freeskiing World Tour and other large-scale events. One opportunity led to another, and Hansee chased each one wherever it led him: first to Crested Butte, then to Salt Lake City, and later to Reno. Now back in Crested Butte for four years, he’s finding that there’s no place like home and making each day count at MSP.

Hansee likes an occasional sunburn, playing a little golf, and fighting bears during mountain bike rides.
