The Way I See It, that's a wrap for the Inter Mountain MSP Movie Tour 2010!! Man, Pankey and I had a blast, we traveled from Boulder to Crested Butte to Durango to Vail to Keystone to Sun Valley to Boise to Missoula and ended it in Bozeman - what a great couple weeks of driving around and providing the winter stoke!!

We are on our way back home to Crested Butte now before heading out again to crush it on the East Coast - be sure to look us up in Portsmouth NH for the East Coast Premiere at the Music Hall on 10/20 - it is going to be a banger show!

We wanted to throw out a huge round of THANK YOUS to all the crews that helped us out on the road: Pine Needle Mountaineering, Podium Sports, Formula Sports, Helly Hansen Boise, Gull Ski Shop, Helly Hansen Bozeman, Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Silverton Mountain, Grand Targhee Resort, Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Big Sky Resort and James at SOS Outreach. Subaru was out in force at all the stops - THANK YOU to Subaru of America - you guys did a great job!!

Park City Throws Down!

October 09 2010 - 9:33:03:am by Frankie

Park City Throws Down!

Jackson was awesome and I felt like I was ready to high-ho-silver myself into the sunset, but then I remembered we had to get to Park City. So once again, sleep, drive, theater state of mind was the only way to go. Four and a half hours drive on this tour during normal business hours is a walk in the park, so all systems go and full steam ahead!

Park City is a community of over the top ski freaks where all areas of the spectrum are represented. Racers to big mountain rippers, park and pipe hitters to aerial dudes, two year-olds to one hundred and two year-olds, wool pants wearing classic nordic guys to gelande cats...they all seem to flock to the Jim Santy Auditorium for some good ole MSP family fun.

6pm...with doors about to open, George and the Park City Film Series crew were about to have their hands full. The faithful had been lined up, and the line never really dwindled until after showtime. It was non stop autographing for Cody T and Bobby B from the get go. The "Enter to Win" bucket was bangin', and our new friends at CLEAR Wireless were making some new acquaintances in the ski world.

The room was packed to the edges as Bobby and Cody chucked the free goods. New gear from Helly Hansen, Smith, DaKine and Discrete was won - along with some brand new skis from CoreUPT! We even gave away some baked goods along with free tunes from Cole Sport. Mark it down, this was the fIrst time MSP has ever given away cup cakes at a ski movie premiere!

The packed Park City house did not refrain from cheering all night long! As has been the case the entire tour, Sean Pettit's opening segment just brings the noise! If he dumped ice cubes on his face, I think he would generate applause. Tons of snow in Japan and insane lines of Bralorne kept 'em roaring. Colby West's antics floored 'em with humor. Bobby, Gus and Russ in AK made the auditorium sound like the Flyer's won the Stanley Cup, and everyone in the room was proud to know Cody Townsend after his Girdwood, AK big mountain clinic!

Thank You Park City for a sick party! Huge thanks to George and the entire Park City Film Series crew! You guys crushed it with promo and work it hard! Thanks to Ashon of Subaru for your support and being a huge MSP fan! Much love to our new friends at CLEAR Wireless - glad to have you on board!

Tomorrow Berman and I will be in SLC, UT at the Rail Event Center. Matti Brown got 'er done in Missoula tonight and closes the books on the inter-mountain region tomorrow in Bozeman. We'll catch you Canadians next Thursday for Vancouver, Part 2!

Eager For Winter, Jackson Hardcores Pack The Teton Theater For Sell Out Of “The Way I See It”

Eager For Winter, Jackson Hardcores Pack The Teton Theater For Sell Out Of “The Way I See It”

Sleep, drive, theater, repeat... In no particular order... That has been our routine lately. Berman and I have been logging the miles and hours as we found ourselves in Jackson WY Thursday morning. As much as I wanted to visit a national park and buy a ranch, there was no time for either as the show must go on.

I don't have to explain to anyone who knows a lick about Jackson that skiing is not a hobby or something to do when the snowmobiling and wild game hunting is less than ideal around these parts. Jackson is as dedicated, passionate and plain talented as any serious ski community in the world... Not to mention the home mountain and surrounding back country rivals any resort and zone on the planet. The point here is that Jackson appreciates the pure spirit of "living the dream" in the mountains, which is exactly why MSP was here - to help fuel that spirit.

But the night wasn't all about living in the mountains and skiing philosophical mumbo-jumbo. It's OCKTOBERFEST for crying out loud! Hoback Sports had pre-sold a bunch of tickets, and the stage was set for a full house last night! Even before the conclusion of the evening's quasi intellectual art house film at the Teton, the Jackson skiing fanatics were chomping at the bit to make their way inside. Our new friend from Grand Targhee Resort, Doug Gemmel, held a wad of 2 for 1 lift ticket vouchers for all in attendance, and when the doors opened, it was all love for Doug! Business was up a little at the "Enter to Win" bucket, since everyone knew Doug was kind enough to throw in a one day resort skiing, one day cat skiing and one night accommodation for 2 package at Grand Targhee Resort as a super prize for the evening!

On stage, I felt like I attempted 18 first downs and 18 hours of playing frisbee with a champion dog during the swag toss. Helly Hansen, DaKine, Discrete and Smith goods were won by the lucky, and the stars aligned for the most amped cat of the night, copping a pair of the all new Salomon El Dictators and the Grand Targhee super prize package!

We love you Jackson, please have the winter of your lives! Thank you Teton Motors for the Subaru support! Thanks also to Kurt and Hoback Sports for your promotional help and being such a class act! Much thanks to Doug and Grand Targhee Resort for flowing the 2 for 1s tonight in Jackson and in Boise! GTR is in the house for Missoula and Bozeman too! Thanks to the Teton Theater for keepin' it vintage... Chad couldn't do it without you!

Berman and I hit the road first thing for Park City tonight, then for Salt Lake at the Rail Event Center on Saturday. Go to Ski 'N See in Sandy on Saturday from 3pm-5pm to become best friends with Cody Townsend and Bobby Brown! Matti Brown and Ronald wrapped her in Boise last night and rock Missoula tonight and Bozeman on Saturday. Come on now...no other places to be! See you there... yeah you!

SAN FRANCISCO’S SUNDANCE KABUKI CINEMAS SELLS OUT OF TICKETS…AND BEER, FOR “THE WAY I SEE IT!”

October 06 2010 - 10:53:11:am by Frankie

SAN FRANCISCO’S SUNDANCE KABUKI CINEMAS SELLS OUT OF TICKETS…AND BEER, FOR “THE WAY I SEE IT!”

After the madness of 3 shows in Squaw, Berman and I had to dig real deep to load up the rig and haul it to San Francisco for an 8am sound and picture check. We rolled in at 5am, got two foggy hours of sleep, and fine tuned our stuff. After a little more rest, it was back to the Kabuki with game faces on.

Located in the heart of San Francisco's Japantown, the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas is a world class facility owned by none other than Robert Redford. As is the case with most of his properties, Mr. Redford wasn't there. Despite his absence, the show went on...

Our partners Subaru, Lombardi Sports, Demo Sport and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, showed up early...and the fans were right behind them! The race was on to claim the first 325 lift ticket coupons for Kirkwood Mountain Resort, and the most loyal and lucky skiers hit pay dirt as Kirkwood ran out of coupons in twenty minutes! There was still plenty going on before the start of the show. Lombardis and Demo Sport made some new friends, and it was heavy traffic at the "Enter To Win" bucket. Cody Townsend has kept quite a California pace, with appearances in South Lake Tahoe, Squaw and SF last night. He is not taking his skiing super-stardom lightly, and not disappointing his fans by signing countless autographs, and winning new followers.

It was apparent that San Francisco was in party mode. The line for the bar practically spanned the length of the Kabuki, and then the unthinkable happened.. they ran out of beer?

When it was time to hit the theater space, the plush seats of the Kabuki were all occupied. (A little side note... picture a bunch of fist class seating areas of a 747 lined up with a 40 ft. screen facing them...that's how pimpin' the Kabuki is!) In addition to 325 lift ticket coupons, Coop from Kirkwood brought about 1000 t-shirts and Subaru threw more in the mix. Cody, Coop and myself unloaded the motherlode of swag, which led to some friendly chaos. Helly Hansen outerwear, Smith goggles, DaKine gloves, and CoreUPT skis all found new owners - and then it was show time!

Pettit's face dragging and flipping out of trees had the Bay Area collectively gasping and cheering. Wall to wall screams for Japanese deep snow. They held their breath as they witnessed the exposure and consequences of Kaj and Sverre pushing the limits in Tulsequah BC. Cody's man handling of Alaska fired 'em up. Ingrid, Arne, Timy Dutton and JT Holmes tearing up Tahoe reminded SF that epic turns are only about four hours away from home.

Thank you to the skiers of San Francisco! Our biggest turnout and highest energy show to date! Mad props out to Coop and everyone at Kirkwood Mountain Resort for stoking out this crowd! Same goes out to Lombardis and Demo Sport for helping to spread the word getting tickets in the hands of our fans! You both rock hard! Thank you to Subaru for your support on the West Coast! Special thanks to Robert Redford for allowing us to host our ski movie in your sick theater. Please attend next year if your schedule permits!

California is in the books. Berman and I remain creatures of the night as we high tail it to Jackson for Thursday night, Park City on Friday and Salt Lake City on Saturday. SLC better get down to Ski 'N See in Sandy on Saturday from 3pm - 5pm so you can meet and chill with Cody and Bobby Brown! Matt Brown and Pankey are running things tonight in Sun Valley, then Boise on Thursday, Missoula on Friday, and Bozeman on Saturday. Shows are going off so don't miss out! See you there!

Squaw Valley - Full Capacity Would Be An Understatement!!

Squaw Valley - Full Capacity Would Be An Understatement!!

Ahhhh the Squaw shows!!! I don't think there are a more passionate group of rowdy skiers on the planet. Every year this show gets bigger and bigger as well as LOUDER! With the move to the Resort at Squaw Creek we have kinda changed a tradition in ski movies at Squaw. The old OVI building got a makeover which prompted us to have to make the move to higher ground. The Resort was there to help us out. The fact that the show was on a Monday night didn't slow the locals one bit - they packed the house for three consecutive shows. The first saw a lot of the future rippers on hand as some parents took advantage of the early show to get the little ones involved. From there on it got rowdier and crazier as the night progressed. Local favorites (Ingrid, JT Holmes, Timy Dutton, Cody Townsend and Scott Gaffney) were on hand to sign posters and toss out swag to the fans. The crowd got wild every time one of their local favorites started to rip and shots of the surrounding hometown terrain hit the screen.

I want to give a huge shout out to the Resort at Squaw Creek for making the night great, we could not have done it without you. Big ups to Porters for all the help selling tickets, and to Josh at Oakley for the HUGE love with all the swag and dope gear you brought in to give away.

Well, I'm on my way to San Francisco - it's still raining and the temps are dropping, I even think I see a little snow up on Eagles Nest, once again proof that Shane is still looking down on us and getting us all stoked for another great winter!

See ya in SF, and at the show!

South Lake Sells Out!

October 03 2010 - 10:49:44:am by Reska

South Lake Sells Out!

After a huge showing in Seattle, I made my way to South Lake Tahoe to meet up with the boys at the Montbleu Casino in Stateline NV. We've been in SLT before, but it's been a while. Not sure what the hiatus was all about, but it was great to be back because the locs were out in full force. The SLT posse of skiers is huge and they were coming out of the woodwork to get stoked for the official start of winter. I also think the rain is following me to each stop I visit because it was coming down in buckets. As Scott Gaffney took the stage to introduce some the athletes we had on hand (Ingrid Backstrom, Timy Dutton - fresh in from North Shore, and Cody Townsend), he stoked the crowd up with reports of snow high up in the peaks! The crowd settled into the funky cabaret style theater and went nuts all night for the action packed film.

We would like to thank Kevin "Coop" Cooper and his team for all the love, AND the 325 free lift tickets from Kirkwood given away as fans packed the theater, and the boys at Shoreline for showing up with tons of swag to toss out to fans.

SLT: we will be back and look forward to seeing you next year! We are rolling around the lake for a day off and the next show on Monday night at the Resort at Squaw Creek. The Squaw show is always a big one and I'm sure this little bit of snow will be getting them fired up for "The Way I See It".

See ya at the show,

~Reska

MSP ROCKS THE KING CAT THEATER IN SEATTLE WITH A SOLD OUT SHOW OF “THE WAY I SEE IT!”

MSP ROCKS THE KING CAT THEATER IN SEATTLE WITH A SOLD OUT SHOW OF “THE WAY I SEE IT!”

Seattle, WA. If there is anything in this world that I have to mentally prepare for, it is an MSP show in Seattle. We have been hosting screenings in Seattle pretty much every year of MSP's existence. Every year is just plain huge, and when I think it can't get any bigger, I am astonished at its growth!

Berman and I showed up early to dial it all in for what was gearing up to be an all-time night in Seattle. The MSP Seattle faithful arrived early as well to claim prime seats, and stack the "enter to win" bucket. The line continued to build on 6th avenue, and just like that, it was standing room only inside the KIng Cat bar!

Nate was back at it, stoking out all who walked through the doors with free night skiing tickets to Stevens Pass! Viewers were peaking under the hood at 2011 Subaru WRX!

After some hearty bar time, the viewers made their way eagerly into the theater space. Not an empty seat to be found! Nate of Stevens Pass joined me on stage for the swag toss, which was one of the rowdiest to date. Thanks to Nate for the extra stuff! Stoked fans took home Helly Hansen outerwear, Smith Goggles, DaKine gloves, and an EVO gift card. Our final winner of the night couldn't have gone home happier, armed with a fresh pair of K2 Hell Bents and a season's pass from Steven's Pass!

Sean Pettit, always a North West favorite, had the King Cat at eleven throughout his entire segment. As natives of Washington state, Ingrid and Arne Backstrom's Tahoe segment touched the hearts and minds of the home state folks. The jibbers were jumping out of their seats at the madness of what went down at the Alyeska jump.

This year's Seattle show at the King Cat was a triumphant success. THANK YOU Seattle! Thanks again to Nate and the Stevens Pass posse! Love and respect for HH Seattle Center, Escape Outdoors, and our friends at EVO!

Driving the graveyard shift for South Lake Tahoe on Saturday night, Squaw on Monday, and San Francisco on Tuesday. Matti Brown and Pankey are on the move for Vail/Beaver Creek tonight and Keystone on Saturday night. See y'all there!

“The Way I See It” Sells Out The Dolores Winningstad Theatre - Portland OR!

September 30 2010 - 5:06:55:pm by Frankie

“The Way I See It” Sells Out The Dolores Winningstad Theatre - Portland OR!

After sell outs in Denver, Crested Butte and Aspen, it was good to have some wind shield time as Berman and I made our way north to Portland, OR. Down time never seems to last long as we found ourselves at another sold out show at the Dolores Winningstad Theatre in Portland, OR. Oregonians are as hardcore about skiing as anyone around, and despite the awesome Indian Summer weather in the PNW, the Portland crowd was in full effect tonight at Dolores Winningstad!

The lobby and bar were jumping as drinks were downed, and folks entered to win the nights prizes. Nate from Stevens Pass was on site, hooking fans up with free night skiing tickets. The Subaru table was busy handing out free goodies as well. With the house packed and the viewers seated, I took the stage and bid my thanks and praises, then showered the Portland crowd with our heap of free stuff, all capped off by one lucky viewer taking home yet another pair of CoreUPT skis.

Portland felt the euphoria of deep snow in Japan, and were pumped on Heim's, Hoji's, Pettit's and Bushy's heroics in Bralorne BC. They also appreciated the hard work of Hoji and Abma earning their turns at Meadow Lodge. Finally, Cody and Henrik's slaying of AK sent the crowd home with big smiles and dreams of big lines.

Thanks to the Portland Center for Performing Arts for hosting another sell out for MSP! Big ups to Nate from Stevens Pass, and the whole gang at US Outdoor! Little bit of sleep, and off bright and early to Seattle! See you there...look out for Matti Brown and Pankey at the Abbey Theatre in Durango tomorrow!

“The Way I See It” goes off at The Meeting in Aspen

September 27 2010 - 2:59:31:pm by hansee

“The Way I See It” goes off at The Meeting in Aspen

It's been another great weekend in Aspen, courtesy of the good folks at Aspen Ski Co. who annually host The Meeting. Hordes of filmmakers, athletes, and fans alike joined MSP for the Saturday night screening of "The Way I See It" at the historic Wheeler Opera House. MSP's resident emcee Frankie Alisuag held down the responsibilities on the microphone alongside Matchstick founder Steve Winter and Swedish ripper Henrik Windstedt.

"I always love coming back to Aspen," Frankie said after the show. "We've got a bunch of great friends over here and the audience always comes out in force. Super stoked to have another full house here at the Wheeler, especially when everyone's screaming, laughing, and cheering like they did tonight."

As we've seen elsewhere on tour this year, the biggest crowd reactions came during segments featuring Sean Pettit, the Alyeska jump, Colby West's non-stop comedy, and epic big mountain shredding from Henrik Windstedt and Cody Townsend. "It's so awesome to hear the crowds cheer during that part," said Henrik. "We had some of the best skiing up in Alaska this year and I'm really stoked on how the segment came out."

Big thanks to everyone in Aspen for having us and for hosting another edition of the The Meeting! We have people traveling around the west coast and more shows in Colorado later this week, putting on shows in Portland, Durango, Seattle, Vail, Keystone, and South Lake Tahoe. If you're in any of those areas, be sure to check out one of the shows for some free stuff, some sweet lift ticket deals, a few special guest appearances, and a kick-ass movie!!! More info for the shows can be found here: http://www.skimovie.com/index.php/tour/schedule/

Hometown Crowd Delivers!!

September 27 2010 - 2:43:38:pm by Frankie

Hometown Crowd Delivers!!

The Crested Butte faithful showed up in full force to their premiere of "The Way I See It" on Friday night. Three fully sold out shows welcomed us and our newest feature film to our hometown stage!

Henrik Windstedt was in tow for the CB show - he spent a whirlwind week traveling from Sweden to Boulder to LA to Denver, down to CB then on to a little town called Aspen. Henrik didn't let jet-lag get in the way of totally stoking out the three sold out shows. Tons of autographs were signed over the course of the night for every single fan who wanted one. The swag and raffle giveaways did not disappoint either - multiple pairs of skis from Salomon and CoreUPT, outerwear from Helly Hansen, Crested Butte Mountain Resort giveaways, and tons of goggles, t-shirts, hats and just about everything else under the sun was raffled off or thrown into the raging crowds.

Premiering "The Way I See It" coupled with the white capped mountains from a few nights before got the crowds into a frenzy! Everyone was stoked about winter going into the shows and left counting down the days until the bullwheels start turning!

All in all, the night could not have played out any better; we want to thank all of our sponsors for helping us put on these shows and make these movies, and thank Crested Butte for always standing behind us - we couldn't do it without you!

This coming week we will be making tour stops in Durango CO, Vail, CO, Keystone CO, Portland OR and Seattle WA - be sure to check out the World Tour Page for all tour stop information. Also, view the full photo gallery from the Premiere in Crested Butte HERE.
